LAP Inaugural Ball and Fundraising Night
Philadelphia – PA : The Liberian Association of Pennsylvania (LAP) will be having its inaugural ball and fund raising dinner on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the Yeadon Borough Hall in Yeadon, PA.
The event was initially scheduled to take place on December 16, 2018, but was postponed to allow members of the Liberian Community to participate in the funeral services of the late Ambassador Tokay Tomah.
According to officials of LAP, on September 12, 2017, the community went to the polls in elected new corps of officials to stir the affairs of the association of the next to years. Those elected were; Hon Christopher Selekpoh, President; Mrs.Gbolo Howard, Vice President; Peeco Conway, Secretary General; Mrs.. Lucy Grear, Treasurer; Mr. Stephen Binda, Assistant Secretary General, Mr. Boimah Pusah, Financial Secretary; and Mrs. Elizabeth Pennoh Cheapoo, General Coordinator. Others are; Mrs. Josephine Dweh Kwaidah, Chair, Board of Directors; Mr. Murphy Gibson, Mr. Alascal Wisner, Mrs. Oretha Suah, Mrs. Anna C. Barlee, Mr. Emmanuel Gartei, and Mr. Exodus Ahausour, all members of the Board of Directors.
According to those closed to administration, the inform this site that the Liberian ambassador to the United States of America, Dr. Lois Lewis Brutus is expected to serve as Guest Speaker during the event. LAP will use the event to raise funds to purchase a modern community center for the community. About 200 guests are expected to attend the program. Admission is $100 for patron and $50.00 for Special Guest of Honor. The organization indicated all its members are expected to pay $100 to attend the event, and even if a member does not attend, her or he is still obligated to pay their admission fee.
